Habit development

All the apps on my phone for habit development fail on me miserably. Seriously. I’ve tried numerous times: running, meditating, drinking more water, exercising, wasting less money. Nothing sticks.

I have friends that tell me, they can’t discipline themselves into anything. The only thing that works is timely reminders of micro actions. You get a nudge to floss your teeth and you do. You get a nudge to stand up and take a stroll and you do.

In contrast, when my alarm goes off in the morning I can continue sleeping with no trace of guilt whatsoever.

That said, I have started and stopped habits successfully before. And the trick that did work on me was a realisation that I need this in my life. Full stop.

People are wired differently.
